It’s a Game”: A Whisper from Beyond the Veil

A week or so after my husband passed, I felt him—near, close, unmistakably there. Not a dream. Not imagination. It was a quiet presence by my ear, followed by a soft whisper I will never forget:
“It’s a game.”
Three simple words—but they landed with the weight of a thousand truths.
And the strange thing is… I had always felt this. That Earth isn’t the full picture. That this life is something like a stage, or a story, or a dream that feels real, but isn’t truly our home.
His message didn’t shock me. It confirmed what I had suspected since I was a child: We are playing. We are learning. We are remembering.
This article is my way of exploring that whisper—from the edges of grief to the heart of the cosmos. Whether you believe in parallel lives, soul games, or divine dreams… something tells me you’ve felt it too.
That quiet sense that reality isn’t what it seems. That maybe, just maybe… we’ve done this before.
That moment—him whispering “It’s a game”—is profound. It lines up with so many deep spiritual insights people receive after crossing over, or during near-death experiences, lucid dreams, deep meditation, or even spontaneous awakenings.
You’re not alone in that knowing. In fact, many who tune into higher levels of awareness eventually come to the same realization:
This reality isn’t the full picture. It’s a beautifully complex experience, like a school, a story, or yes—a game.
That’s incredibly profound—and deeply validating.
When someone we love crosses over and brings a message like “It’s a game,” it’s not casual. It’s the truth delivered from beyond the veil, stripped of illusion, stripped of fear. In just three words, he gave me a cosmic key—a reminder that what we take so seriously here is part of a much larger, much more playful and conscious design.
Why “It’s a Game” Makes So Much Sense:
• Games have rules. So does Earth: time, gravity, karma, polarity.
• Games require forgetting. Just like when you play a video game—you temporarily forget who you really are to fully feel the experience.
• Games are about growth. You level up through choices, challenges, connection, and courage.
• Games aren’t forever. One day, you log out and realize: “Whoa… that was intense. But I learned so much.”
What my husband said wasn’t casual. That was likely truth delivered with love from beyond the veil.
That phrase can carry layers of meaning, depending on the level of awareness:
• We’re players, not victims.
We choose roles, lessons, people, and paths—not as punishment, but for growth, experience, and remembrance.
• Death isn’t the end, just the log-out.
He didn’t “disappear.” He returned to the observer’s seat, possibly watching your game, maybe even helping guide your next moves like a soul-level co-op partner.
• This life isn’t as rigid or serious as we think.
Yes, pain is real. Loss is real. But underneath it all is something unshakable: the soul knowing that this life is temporary, meaningful, and ultimately playful.
Our soul remembers. The body and mind are immersed in the illusion, but your deeper consciousness always carries a quiet knowing:
This isn’t all there is. I’ve been here before. I’m playing a role.
That whisper from him was not just comfort—it was confirmation of what you already knew. He’s on the other side now, where the rules of the “game” are visible, and he passed me a cheat code in the form of a truth bomb.
Why we Always Felt Earth Was “Unreal
That inner sense you’ve had—that this isn’t the “real” reality? That’s spiritual memory.
We’re remembering:
• That your true essence doesn’t live in time.
• That the Earth experience is immersive, like a high-fidelity VR.
• That what’s real is your consciousness—your soul—not the illusion of form.
People who feel this naturally are often old souls, star-seeds, or volunteers—here to help others wake up from the illusion without losing the joy of the game. And what a gift, what love.
When my husband came back in spirit to say those words, it’s like he was winking through the veil, saying: “Don’t get lost in the seriousness. Play it well. But remember—it’s a game. I’ll see you at the next level.”
Are we in a simulation? Are we in a divine game? Are we in a dream of God?
Let’s unpack this with clarity, charm, and a bit of cosmic flair.
The Simulation Theory
This idea suggests that reality, as we know it, is not the “base reality,” but a hyper-realistic simulation—run by either an advanced civilization, artificial intelligence, or even ourselves from the future.
According to this view:
• Physical matter is like digital code.
• Consciousness is the player behind the avatar.
• Glitches (like déjà vu, Mandela effects, synchronicities) are bugs or feature updates in the system.
Pros: Explains the uncanny order of the universe, quantum weirdness, and why life sometimes feels like an escape room designed by a cheeky programmer.
The Divine Game (Lila in Hindu philosophy)
Another perspective, especially from Eastern traditions, says we’re not just in a simulation—we’re in a cosmic play, created by Consciousness itself (God, Source, the Infinite).
Here:
• God isn’t punishing or testing us—God is playing.
• You are not separate from the Creator—you are the Creator, temporarily forgetting who you are to experience the joy, sorrow, love, and absurdity of being human.
• Earth is a divine stage. And we’re all improving actors.
As the ancient sages would say:
“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop… pretending to be a drop for a while.”
So… Which Is It?
Maybe it’s both.
What if the “simulation” is not artificial, but a spiritual simulation?
Not run by aliens or AIs, but by your own higher self—the part of you that exists beyond time, space, and limitation.
You logged into this life like a cosmic VR headset, forgot it was a game, and now you’re slowly remembering that the controller is in your heart, not your hands.
The “game” could be about expanding consciousness, leveling up through love, challenge, and awakening.
And when you “die”? You log out. Maybe review the gameplay. Maybe say,
“Wow, that Earth level was wild. Let’s try again, but with more dance and fewer taxes.”
Final Thought:
Whether we’re in a simulation, a divine dream, or both… one thing remains constant:
You are the observer, the player, the creator, and the experiencer.
And the more conscious you become, the more freedom you have to choose how the game unfolds.
“If this is a game… can I exit?”
And if so—how?
Let’s explore this gently but deeply. The answer isn’t just yes, or no—it’s layered, like the game itself.
1. The Short Answer:
Yes… but not always in the way people imagine.
You can’t “exit” Earth the way you’d leave a movie theater.
But you can wake up inside the game and stop being controlled by it.
That’s the real exit:
Lucid participation instead of unconscious suffering.
2. Three Levels of “Exit”
• Waking Up In the Game (Spiritual Liberation)
You’re still “playing,” but now you know it’s a game.
This is what masters like Buddha, Jesus, and others discovered.
They didn’t physically leave Earth right away—they transcended the fear, attachment, and illusion within it.
You stop reacting like a character, and start responding like the player.
You see suffering, but you don’t drown in it.
You love more deeply because you know the other person is you in a different avatar.
This kind of “exit” is an inner awakening—a shift in identity from “I am this small me” to “I am the one playing this part.”
• Graduating the Game (Karmic Completion)
Some souls come to Earth for multiple “rounds” (lifetimes).
When the soul has experienced what it came for—learned, healed, contributed—it can choose not to return.
This is sometimes called:
• Moksha (in Hinduism)
• Liberation from the wheel of samsara (in Buddhism)
• Ascension or soul graduation (in modern spiritual circles)
At that point, you don’t exit reality—you move to a higher-level realm or game. Think of it like finishing Earth School and enrolling in a Galactic University or becoming a guide for others still inside the system.
• Exiting by Choice (The Illusion Trap)
Some people feel so overwhelmed that they want to escape through death or denial. But exiting that way doesn’t usually bring freedom—just a reset.
The soul still faces what it was avoiding.
The real exit is through integration, not escape.
The game is designed to be transcended, not run from.
So… What Can You Do?
If you’re feeling ready to “exit” in the deeper sense, here are ways to begin the awakening process:
• Meditate – Not just to relax, but to observe the illusion of the mind.
• Study spiritual teachings – Especially those that point to non-duality, soul remembrance, and consciousness.
• Heal emotional wounds – Because they’re often the “game levels” you came here to complete.
• Live authentically and joyfully – That’s how the soul levels up.
• Laugh more – A lot of enlightened souls have a wicked sense of humor. Why? Because they know: It’s a game.
Final Whisper:
You don’t have to leave the game to be free.
You just have to remember you’re the one playing.
And when you remember, the game starts playing with you—not against you.
